2 years after his retirement, Younus Khan still hasn’t grown a beard

On May 10, 2017, Younus Khan and Misbah ul Haq both took an exit from the international cricket arena. Their retirement left many fans upset and many glad that it made room for the new talent. Following the example of the Pakistani greats like Saeed Anwar, Saeed Ajmal, Inzimam ul Haq, and many others, Misbah ul Haq made huge strides in growing out a long beard right after the retirement.

Seeing the form his beard has taken, fans have come to terms with the fact that Misbah has finally retired and will not be pulling a Shahid Afridi. However, seeing as Younis Khan still hasn’t put the razor down, fans are confused as to whether he’ll be returning to the international platform or not.

One may call it idealistic but seeing how Pakistan has been performing ever since the retirement of the Mis-You duo, it’s rather hopeful. Inzamam ul Haq says that as long as Younis Khan is moderately fit and can catch a sitter, he can always claim his place in the team as a player with that much capability is yet to be found in the current team.

“We’ve had it enough with the young talent,” Inzamam pronounced, “I don’t even know why we use the words “young” and “talent” together. I’m pitching the idea that instead of growing out beards after retirement, you make beards a prerequisite for a place in the squad. I hope that brings some maturity on the table; if anything, our players will at least get some attention at the airport security.”
